February 2015 Hacker of the Month

Congratulations to our February Hacker of the Month, Jesse Laster, who impressed us along with his artful 3D printed Meter Clock! Based on Laster, all of it started with the thought to make a birthday present for good pal Lauren Bitikofer, electrical energy and aviation professor on the College of Aeronautical Science at LeTourneau College.

I began with the concept that I needed to make a meter clock then I began placing collectively the items that I wanted to get that consequence. Printing the field turned out to be one of many best components of the construct.” stated Laster.

Laster has impressively solely been 3D printing since October 2014. He used MatterHacker’s black PLA filament on his selfmade printer to create the field for his clock. From there, Laster linked an Arduino nano chip, an actual time clock chip, a number of resistors and three analog ammeters to make the clock motion.

It was enjoyable arising with the field design and the Arduino code to get it to work accurately! ” Laster stated.
